{"id":448,"date":"2009-12-12T10:27:19","date_gmt":"2009-12-12T10:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.perfectdiettracker.com\/news\/?p=448"},"modified":"2020-09-11T15:45:11","modified_gmt":"2020-09-11T14:45:11","slug":"perfect-diet-tracker-asus-eeepc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/perfectdiettracker.com\/news\/perfect-diet-tracker-asus-eeepc\/","title":{"rendered":"Using the Perfect Diet Tracker with an Asus eeePC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest version of the Perfect Diet Tracker will now work on both a Linux and Windows-based eeePC making it easier than ever to monitor your diary on the move.<\/p>\n<p>As the Perfect Diet Tracker requires a 24-bit display, and the default eeePC setting is 16 bits, you need to make a small change to the configuration files to allow the software to run.<\/p>\n<h3>Updating the eeePC screen colour depth<\/h3>\n<p>To update the colour depth to 24 bits (millions of colours) you need to do the following:<\/p>\n<p>Press the &#8216;Ctrl&#8217;, &#8216;Alt&#8217; and &#8216;T&#8217; keys together on the keyboard to open a terminal window.<\/p>\n<p>To backup your current settings type : sudo cp \/etc\/X11\/xorg.conf \/etc\/X11\/xorg.backup<\/p>\n<p>In the window type : sudo nano -w \/etc\/X11\/xorg.conf<\/p>\n<p>Scroll down and replace: DefaultDepth 16 with DefaultDepth 24<\/p>\n<p>Press &#8216;Ctrl&#8217; and &#8216;X&#8217; to save and exit<\/p>\n<p>Reboot your eeePC, you will then be running in 24 bit, or &#8216;millions of colours&#8217; mode.<\/p>\n<h3>Installing the Perfect Diet Tracker<\/h3>\n<p>Installation is very easy, simply download the Linux installation file (here) and save the file to your &#8216;My Documents&#8217; folder.<\/p>\n<p>Once the download is complete, click on the &#8216;Work&#8217; tab, then on &#8216;File Manager&#8217; and locate the pdt3linux.tar.gz file located in &#8216;My Documents&#8217;.
